Wild wild horses

Wild horsesIn this picture we are practicing the horse stance, warming up a bit after swimming in the cool cool ocean. Those who are familiar with the Wim Hof method may recognize his style of movement and the sound (Click here for 14 seconds video). Aaah, oooh, aah, oooh. It is all part of our focus on living a long, happy and healthy lifespan.  We are becoming friends with the cold.

Ours is not a caravan of despair (Rumi)

Rumi2Planet earth is in need of supporters in the match of the century: Team Sustainability vs. Team Climate Catastrophe. Star players on our side: Plant based diet and Solar energy. In the opposition: Rainforest destruction and Coal and oil burning. Even if we can avoid climate meltdown the outcome will still be that our civilization is doomed. Osho says that we need a new humanity. Take heart. Ours is a caravan of hope for the new man: http://www.laozihouse.org

Playfulness

ChicaLast month we adopted a small cat we heard mewing at our fence, crying for food and water. Chica, or Chi as we call her is running around all day long. Today she chose the card of the day (the first one she stepped on with her left paw): Playfulness. Fitting for her! However traumatic her life may have begun being left alone in the wild nature, it certainly did not make her serious. She wants to play all the time.

In Memoriam

IMThis morning I read a page from the Tao Teh Ching for Anna the cat and all other loved ones who live on in our heart after they left the body. We erected a Memorial stone in their honour yesterday. In the shadow behind us, the flowering shrub Aloysia citrodora that we planted on Anna’s grave last week. Our Queen of Water overlooks the site, blessing it with the comforting sound of running water. [picture by Luisa]

Anna, 2010-2018

Ana em LombosGardenOne of the last pictures of our beloved cat, Anna. Many of you have known her. She usually joins us for the morning exercises but we did not see her today. Luisa started searching the area and was shocked to find her dead at the side of the road, just outside our gate, apparently attacked and killed by a group of wild dogs. We heard them howling in the night. It is terrible. It happened before to several other cats around here, very sad that we could not prevent her to fall victim too. We miss her.

Wood chipper

ChipperIt takes three Chippeteers to feed this machine piles of garden waste and shred it into readily compostable bio mass. We used loads of it for improvement of our vegetable garden in recent weeks. Take a look at the blog of Laozi House with many pictures of our volunteer workers and members in their daily rituals, revealing how we jump, stretch, eat, clean, dig, seed and harvest.
